Our original image was based at Fewston Reservoir found on Google Images. We had the idea of silhouetting the character out and recreating the image below.
| However, when we came to editing it and tracing around the man, we realised that the image quality was no way near good enough as displayed below. |
| Moving on from this, we looked back at the image we had drawn our main inspiration from, and decided to follow this more closely. Our aim from this piece of work was to establish certain techniques they may have used and allow us to measure how achievable it is. |
| Meanwhile, Charles began to draw their logo. This was completed by tracing over their logo. We then experimented with size and width and finalised our decision when importing it to our image. |
| Our first aim was to find an image of a Skyline, and the conventional option would be New York. Due to previous inspiration from my visit to New York we decided on this image of Brooklyn Bridge (demonstrating the building effect from ODESZA's digipak). This would form layer one. Although this image isn't our own, with our idea being heavily computer generated this shouldn't matter; as well as this we have got a range of clips of the skyline, but not on the computer as of yet. |
| We transferred the image into Adobe Photoshop and began to play round with certain effects before deciding on the one we wanted. |
| We ended up designing this image. Black and White two toned image. We felt this fit the part and would work well as a layer in our design. |
| We then coated the image in pink, and then made this layer transparent. Previously, under this layer we had imported their logo we had created and the name of the duo, ODESZA in the same font as their other examples; following the general conventions of their previous work we had examined. |
| I started by writing the song names and highlighting them to change the colour and font. We suddenly noticed this and were happy with how this looked. The next step however was how to create the permanently. Our approach was to screenshot the image and layer this over. We then grouped it together and this was the end product. We are however looking at alternative ways of doing this; with a simple image like this it isn't too hard, however with something more complex this approach won't necessarily work. |
We got a screenshot of Counter Records logo with the aim to trace it.
Charles placed the gridlines and then traced the image.
Finally, we got an image of a barcode, placed this into the bottom right corner and out the Counter Records logo bottom left. From here our next box to tick would be the copyright information and the top two boxes, following similar design methods and aesthetic design. |
