JR Alli
JR Alli is a big inspiration with regards to the style of editing I'd like aim to replicate. The originality and unpredictability of this style is very effective and would help with engagement for our music video which is calm and low key in its entirety. I chose this particular video as an example as it has particular shots in it which I can see us using within ours. One key aspect of this video is the zoom transition, it works very well and provides a very aesthetic finish, this particular technique I would very much like to try to re create manually as oppose to downloading a plug in in order to fully understand the technical aspects of why and how it happens.
Tim Kellner | TimToTheWild
Tim Kellner is another big inspiration and has heavily influenced my choice of video style which is primarily editing of stunning shots, trying to capture great scenery while telling a story. Conventionally he focuses on a single topic in his videos. The plethora of his videos follows the lyrics of the song, almost as though the song was written to match the video. His calm approach and simplistic yet very effective outcome is nevertheless aesthetically pleasing. These are transferable skills I'd love to crossover with my production. I'd like to incorporate a linear narrative, by really focusing on the lyrics and making the visuals and lyrics work hand in hand is something I'd love to master in this production.
Ben Brown
Another huge inspiration which triggered this idea was this particular visual vibes edit done by YouTuber and photographer Ben Brown. The use of a drone, one track, diegetic and non diegetic sounds all come together to create this product which I love. There are more than a few transferable ideas and skills Charles and I can take away from this video to help improve the quality of our production with regards to editing and style of filming. The main elements of this video which triggered inspiration is how it has been filmed, the stunning scenery is beautiful in this video however it would be un realistic for us to capture such shots of glaciers and large scale mountains in our time scale. The use of a drone however, and the choice of focus is what I liked about this piece. He doesn't just focus on the big picture but picks out various elements to each image and focuses on them, then bringing them together shortly after in the 'bigger picture'. This is very effective and would work very well in our production.
These are not examples of music videos, but an editing style. I have learned to love this style through watching their content, the overall product each of these creators produce is something I then saw in Justin Bieber's 'I'll Show You' video. Having seen slight examples of these editing styles within music videos triggered my idea to create a narrative around shots at various locations, using different forms of shooting with different cameras, for example a drone, a DSLR and perhaps a Go Pro which are all accessible to us.

Tom, it's important to say, however briefly, what exactly in these videos has influenced you. The camerawork? the aesthetic? the locations?
