Research?
After our digipak photoshoot we scanned the clips and decided which photo we thought would work best. The hard part was then to decide what to do with this image. For a while we were too focused on trying to replicate the techniques used by ODESZA, I then decided to research into other album covers in the electronic genre, heres what I found...
As evidenced from these images there are many different directions we could go. The main convention was colour. We settled on the idea of following their conventions of the logo and writing style, using a silhouetted image and using a particular colour theme which we wanted to be pink.
So What Are Odesza's Conventions?
- Titles, ODESZA (in capitals) with IN RETURN (in capitals) underneath
- Logo, centrally lined horizontally but slightly above centre vertically
- Various layers with reduced opacity
We aww going to follow all but the last one. We have decided that if we recreated the existing one with different images it may look tacky, by focusing on one or two layers we will be able to get a better quality image out of it, as well as being able to spend more time on the music video edit. We are also going to follow the general convention of bright colours as I stated above.
