Location Scouting (Fewston)

Fewston

These images have been taken from Google Images and are what I used as a marker for the areas to visit.

Charles and I sat back reluctantly and assessed the length of the song, we came to the conclusion that just using one main location (Ilkley Moor), wouldn't be enough to fulfil the song. We decided on adding another location, now that I can also drive it is possible to go a little further afield to other locations. We stumbled on the idea of Swinsty Reservoir in Fewston, approximately a 20 minutes drive from where we lived. We made it a day trip and set off with our camera gear which included a Sony SLT DSLR with an 18-55mm lense, a Canon 7D, Phantom 4 Drone and the Canon SX700 HS PowerShot point and shoot which could be used as a backup due to being able to shoot at 60fps. While there Charles and I explored the area and took photos and videos. I then created another edit of this location which once again we could refer back to when needed, it also a nice way to portray then location.

This part of the reservoir is currently drained and we wish to enter it somehow to capture the reservoir from with which is a significantly different perspective. Along with this, looking out from within with the trees creates a very nice contrast to the sky which will be very aesthetically appealing. One of the aspects from carrying out lyric analysis is looking upon a situation from different perspective, perhaps the other persons, this shot is a good metaphorical meaning of that.
This is the main road crossing the reservoir with views across the reservoir both NW and SE. If we decide to use clips of the protagonist driving they are likely to be based here and could potentially be captured on the Phantom 4 drone due to the stunning surrounding scenery.
We began at the Car Park in the North West, then worked our way around the reservoir. We didn't actually use the drone on this location mission; instead we used the two DSLR's at hand.

Below is the video I constructed together by using Premiere Pro for the first time. I dowloaded a trial version and used these clips to test it to perhaps justify using it (I definitely assumed yes before no!). I am very pleased with the outcome and have picked up the shortcuts etc relatively quickly. The colours, features and remoteness are all very appealing with this location and it should make a significant impact on the end product, adding a greater variance visually. It offers many different options to Ilkley with it being more enclosed and forrest like with more 'life' with regards to animals etc, for example the birds on the reservoir.
